Everybody has bad days.
Have you ever had one of those days where you just wake up in the worst mood and it seems like everyone else is having the best day of their lives and you’re just over here like ‘okay wow, the world sucks today’?? No, just me? Okay well what about those days where you wake up just slightly annoyed (or slightly late) and then just a million little things go wrong that day? It’s frustrating, right?!
Everyone’s experienced it. Everybody has bad days now and then.
BUT! NEWS FLASH!
I have come up with a collection of my favorite verses to remember and pray over myself on bad days! And guess what?! It’s been a game changer!
So let’s get to it!
For the days you feel sad:
“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” -Psalm 5:11-12 (niv)
“Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.” -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (msg)
For the days you feel like giving up:
“It’s a good thing to quietly hope, quietly hope for help from God. It’s a good thing when you’re young to stick it out through the hard times. When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer. Don’t ask questions: wait for hope to appear. Don’t run from trouble. Take it full-face. The “worst” is never the worst. Why? Because the Master won’t ever walk out and fail to return. If He works severely, He also works tenderly. His stockpiles of loyal love are immense.” -Lamentations 3: 25-33 (msg)
“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope.” -Psalm 130:5 (niv)
“I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with God.” -Psalm 27:13-14 (msg)
For the days you feel anxious and overwhelmed:
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” -Psalm 55:22 (niv)
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and the mountains quake with their surging.” -Psalm 46:1-3 (niv)
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” -Colossians 3:15 (niv)
For the days you feel heart broken:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18 (niv)
“The Lord heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” -Psalm 147:3 (niv)
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” -Philippians 4:6-7 (msg)
For the days that seem like your promise won’t be fulfilled:
“For no matter how many promises God makes, they are “yes ” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” -2 Corinthians 1:20 (niv)
“So do not throw away your confidence, it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that hen you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.” -Hebrews 10:35-36 (niv)
And again, in a different version, because it’s so dang good!
“So don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It’s still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion. It won’t be long now, He’s on His way; He’ll show up most any minute. But anyone who is right with me thrives on loyal trust; if he cuts and runs, I won’t be very happy. But we’re not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We’ll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.” -Hebrews 10:35-39 (msg)
For the days that are just really hard in general:
“The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; he hears their cry and saves them.” -Psalm 145:17-19 (niv)
“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” -Psalm 40:1-2 (niv)
“For our struggle is not against flesh an blood, but against the rulers, against the evil authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces in the heavenly realms.” -Ephesians 6:12 (niv)
BAM! Now you’re ready to face those bad days and hit ’em with an automatic attitude adjustment!
I love you all and I pray you find this helpful! Have a beautiful weekend!
